ETP Working Process

The first stage of the E.T.P process ensures that incoming industrial wastewater is prepared for treatment. Pre-treatment removes coarse solids, oils, and debris, protecting downstream equipment and improving overall efficiency.

Components & Functions:

  • Screens & Grit Chambers: Remove large solids, sand, and debris

  • Oil & Grease Separators: Remove oil and grease to prevent clogging

  • Equalization Tanks: Balance flow and load for consistent treatment

Benefits:

  • Protects equipment and tanks from damage

  • Ensures smooth operation of the E.T.P system

  • Reduces maintenance frequency

Primary treatment removes suspended solids and chemical contaminants from the effluent using sedimentation and chemical dosing.

Components & Functions:

  • Sedimentation Tanks: Settle out solids from wastewater

  • Chemical Dosing Systems: Coagulants and flocculants to bind impurities

  • Skimmers & Sludge Collectors: Remove floating solids and sludge

Benefits:

  • Reduces suspended solids and toxic load

  • Prepares wastewater for biological treatment

  • Minimizes environmental impact

Secondary treatment involves biological processes that degrade organic matter and reduce BOD/COD levels in the effluent.

Components & Functions:

  • Aeration Tanks / Biofilters / MBBR: Microorganisms break down organic pollutants

  • Clarifiers: Separate treated water from biological sludge

  • Aerators & Diffusers: Provide oxygen to support microbial activity

Benefits:

  • Reduces BOD, COD, and organic contaminants

  • Produces treated water suitable for discharge or reuse

  • Enhances system reliability and environmental compliance

The final stage removes residual impurities, color, and odor to ensure effluent meets regulatory standards.

Components & Functions:

  • Sand & Activated Carbon Filters: Remove fine solids, color, and odor

  • UV / Chlorination Units: Disinfect water from bacteria and pathogens

  • pH Adjusters: Stabilize water before discharge

Benefits:

  • Ensures effluent meets CPCB and State Pollution Control Board norms

  • Produces safe, environmentally compliant water

  • Enables reuse of treated water in industrial applications

Notes

  • Industrial effluent treatment is applied globally for wastewater compliance and recycling.
  • Treated water is suitable for safe discharge, industrial reuse, and environmental sustainability.
